Electronics, Cash Stolen From Parked Cars In Hudson Valley Neighborhoods

Authorities are warning residents to lock their cars after electronics and cash were stolen from several vehicles in multiple Hudson Valley neighborhoods. 

The thefts happened in the North Lake and South Lake Boulevard neighborhoods in Mahopac.

The thefts were reported in Putnam County on Friday morning, June 14, when Carmel Police learned that unlocked vehicles had been entered in the South Lake and North Lake Boulevard neighborhoods in Mahopac. 

According to the department, small electronics and cash, reported as $20 and some loose change, were taken from some of the cars. 

The suspect carried only a flashlight and a backpack and was not armed, police said also adding that all of the cars broken into had been unlocked. 

Following the thefts, the department warned residents to follow the " 9 p.m. routine," which includes locking cars, removing key fobs, taking valuables inside or leaving them out of sight, and activating security lighting or cameras. 

Anyone who sees suspicious activity can report it to the department by calling 845-628-1300. No arrests in connection with the thefts were announced.
